Lugano on the Moon: The Evolution of "Astro Credy"
If a real space mission takes three days to cover the distance between the Earth and its satellite, the journey of Astro Credy was a slower, more poetic path. After a 422-day artistic metamorphosis, visual artist Yuri Catania has officially brought his monumental street art installation to its final destination on the glass facade of Credinvest Bank in Lugano.
The message has evolved from "To the Moon" to "On the Moon."
The first female astronaut, who initially appeared on the 6-story building on January 22, 2025, floating among peonies, camellias, and dahlias, has now officially landed. The moon has shifted to the heart of the architectural structure, and the astronaut now merges with the lunar surface, still surrounded by iconic flowers and butterflies—symbols of a precious and fragile biodiversity.
Anticipating History:
The Artemis Mission Astro Credy "On the Moon" is more than an urban artwork; it is a tribute to the upcoming Artemis III and Artemis IV space missions. Catania’s vision celebrates and anticipates the historic moment when a female astronaut will step onto the moon for the first time, marking a new evolutionary and scientific chapter for humanity. Thanks to this artwork, the city of Lugano is already experiencing the emotion of tomorrow's history today.
Record-Breaking Art & Technology
The installation represents a perfect harmony between human sensitivity, nature, and technological progress, characterized by several key milestones:
The Largest of its Kind: Spanning 550 square meters, Astro Credy is the largest street art installation on glass ever created. This was made possible through a collaboration with the local Swiss company, Tipack Group (Agno).
Augmented Reality (AR) Experience: Created using a mixed-media approach, the physical artwork hides a digital dimension. By scanning the facade with the Artivive app, visitors can unlock an immersive Augmented Reality experience, engaging in a constant dialogue between the physical and digital worlds.
An Indoor/Outdoor Ecosystem: The artwork doesn't stop at the exterior walls. The installation extends into one of the rooms inside Palazzo Credinvest, transforming it into a colorful indoor garden that completes the artwork's ecosystem.
With "Astro Credy On The Moon," Credinvest Bank and Yuri Catania confirm a shared vision: true progress blooms when we have the patience to dream big and the courage to blend human art with technological innovation.
