Black Flowers Secret Garden. An Intimate Nocturnal Dialogue Between Nature and the Artist.
Nestled in the foothills of Monte Generoso, Swiss-Italian artist Yuri Catania embarks on a nightly ritual: photographing the blooming flowers cultivated with love by his wife and muse, Silvia, in their Rovio garden. Initiated during the first lockdown in March 2020, this project captures the luminous and colorful flowers floating in a dreamlike and intimate nocturnal dimension.
In this series, Catania's instinctive photography becomes a meditative practice. He refrains from cutting the flowers; instead, he observes them under the moonlight, allowing the silence and shadows to reveal their secret beauty. Each image emerges from contemplation, akin to a mantra or a whispered prayer.
Through this evolving garden, every bloom signifies transformation—a daily miracle. Catania's lens captures not perfection, but presence: the fleeting grace of nature that invites us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the world that grows quietly around us.
